Delicious salads with some home grown ingredients. Good choice of drinks. Friendly staff. Good service Lovely garden and covered area. Plenty of parking. Both an advantage and disadvantage to be right by the A338. Will definitely visit again.

Really nice food and very friendly people. Nice green garden with a grass field for kids to play on. The vegetables are all coming from the green house behind the restaurant. Definitely worth a visit!!!

An impossibly good-looking pub, right on the main road, half way between Salisbury and Ringwood. Inside, the look is country cosy with stripped wood floorboards, low ceilings, old pine tables and chairs.
When we went for a late Sunday lunch, the pub was busy and noisy ... and that's a compliment, because that's how a good pub should be.
The welcome was warm, the staff very pleasant and attentive (and plenty of them) and the service impressively swift even during such a busy spell.
Food was magnificent - fresh, properly cooked, generous portions and sensibly priced. We had the roast beef, the fish & chips and the Cajun chicken - all brilliant
If you want to stop on the road from Salisbury to Ringwood, I'd recommend this as the best option. Yes there are other pubs near the A338 e.g. in Downton, Fordingbridge, Ibsley - but none of them is as good as the Bat and Ball.
Updated July 2022 - dined here with some friends from South Wales, en route to Southampton for Uni graduation. All agreed we had a wonderful meal with generous portions and attentive service. This place goes from strength to strength.

Our goal is to become less reliant on traditional supply chains, reduce food miles, wastage and ensure our customers receive more homegrown produce. One way we wanted to focus on achieving this is by growing our produce onsite hydroponically.
Hydroponics is the cultivation of plants without using soil. Hydroponic flowers, herbs, and vegetables are planted and supplied with nutrient-rich solutions, oxygen, and water.
Feel free to take a look around when you visit us, just ask one of our friendly team for a tour!
